Turtle Huts
In addition to the standard RT-16, Rac-Tent also provides custom sled mounted hard panel buildings. These structures can be used either independently or in conjunction with Rac-Tent sections to create hybrid structures. Hybrid "Turtle Hut Galley/Rac-Tent Dining Hall" structures have been used with great success at both the WAIS Divide and the Byrd Field Support Facility on the Western Antarctic Plateau. Stand-alone Turtle Huts have been used as mechanic’s shops, generator sheds and general purpose work and office space.
These buildings are supplied as a kit set structure comprising:
- A demountable rigid steel sled with tow bar
- A SIP panel floor system providing a structural deck
- Metal skinned EPS wall and roof panels
- Pre hung window and door panels
- Interior framing as required
- All flashings, fastenings and sealants
